I recently had the privilege of working with a group of guys on a walleye stocking project at Sundown Lake. Mike Nedved, Greg Schiebout, and Garret Seebandt gave their time on a blustery, cold October afternoon to help me add 1,000 new walleye to the lake. Each fish was an average of 6 inches in length and were purchased from the NorthStar Fish Hatchery. This project was approved by the association to help improve the quality of the lake and the recreational fishing opportunities.
An avid fisherman myself, I would appreciate your help in allowing the fish to grow over the next 6-12 months. We are still unsure at this point if the fish will be able to reproduce in Lake Sundown, so if you do catch one of these smaller walleyes it is important to release them and let them grow. Please practice the CPR method of fishing for the next year in regards to the walleye: catch, photo, release.
The Sundown Lake Association continues to make improvements to the lake, the water quality, and the community. We want to make it an enjoyable place for the residents and an attractive location for new owners interested in lake front property. In the fall of 2013 we may be able to start taking donations to fund more fish stocking projects.
